How It Works & Why It Matters

Markdown became the default for READMEs, documentation sites, static-site generators and chat tools because it's plain text that degrades gracefully — a file is still readable even if nothing ever renders it. The tradeoff is that different renderers (GitHub, a static site generator, a wiki) implement slightly different dialects, so the same source can render differently depending on where it ends up.

This converter renders your Markdown live as you type using a standard CommonMark-compatible parser, so you can catch formatting issues — a list that doesn't nest the way you expected, a table that isn't recognised, a code block that swallowed surrounding text — before they ship. Exporting the raw HTML is useful when you need to paste formatted content into a CMS or email client that doesn't understand Markdown at all.
